The magnificent architecture and extensive history of ancient Bruges are well known. The Notary was acquired and renovated by Henri Paul Joseph van Caillie (1879–1953), establishing a legacy of notaries within its walls. His son, Georges Van Caillie, and grandson, Henri Van Caillie, both lived here and practiced the notary profession in this very building.
