History and Heritage of The Notary
The magnificent architecture and extensive history of ancient Bruges are well known. The Notary was acquired and renovated by Henri Paul Joseph van Caillie (1879–1953), establishing a legacy of notaries within its walls. His son, Georges Van Caillie, and grandson, Henri Van Caillie, both lived here and practiced the notary profession in this very building. A stay at The Notary is truly a stay in a distinctive setting with a rich share of heritage, with historic features preserved both inside and out.
